Wi-Fi tips for a smooth picture.
Most IPTV problems come from the network, not from the subscription. Here are the fixes that work, in the order to try them.
When a channel stutters, the first reaction is to blame the service. In practice, the signal between your router and your TV is the usual cause, especially in the evening and in rooms far from the router.
The good news is that the fixes are simple, free and quick to try.
Speed is not the whole story.
Distance and walls
Every wall between the router and the TV weakens the signal, and thick or concrete walls weaken it a lot.
Busy evenings
Between 7 pm and 11 pm, your neighbourhood is online. Speeds drop even on a good connection.
Too many devices
Phones, consoles and laptops all share the same Wi-Fi. A large download can starve the TV.
The wrong band
5 GHz is fast but short range, 2.4 GHz is slower but travels further. Picking the wrong one causes stutter.
Try these in order.
Restart everything
Switch off the router and the TV device for ten seconds, then start the router first and the device after.
Move closer or go wired
If the TV is far from the router, try an Ethernet cable, even a long one, before anything else.
Switch band
Connect the TV to the 5 GHz network if it is close to the router, or to 2.4 GHz if it is two rooms away.
Lower the quality
Choose the FHD or HD version of a channel instead of 4K while the connection is busy.
Pause other devices
Stop downloads, updates and large uploads during the evening.
Worth checking once.
- ✓ Put the router in the open, not in a cabinet or behind the TV.
- ✓ Keep it away from microwaves and cordless phones, they interfere with 2.4 GHz.
- ✓ Give the 5 GHz network its own name, so you can choose it on purpose.
- ✓ Add a mesh unit for a room at the far end of the house.
- ✓ If your router is more than five years old, ask your provider for a newer one.
How to tell where the problem is.
Test the same channel on a phone sitting next to the router. If it plays perfectly there and stutters on the TV, the subscription is fine and the problem is the signal reaching that room.
Run a speed test on the TV device itself, in the evening rather than in the morning. A result far below your subscription speed points straight at the Wi-Fi rather than at your provider.
Try a long Ethernet cable as a temporary test, even running across the floor for an hour. If everything becomes smooth, you know a permanent wired connection or a mesh unit will solve it for good.
If a single channel stutters while all the others are perfect, that one channel is the exception, not your network. Send us its name on WhatsApp and we will check it.
Quick answers.
Why does IPTV only buffer in the evening?
Networks are busiest then, both inside your home and in your area. Lower the quality or use a wired connection.
Is Ethernet really better than Wi-Fi?
Yes, almost always. A cable gives a steady connection with no interference.
Does a VPN help?
It is not required for MARINIOS IPTV. A VPN usually makes the connection slower rather than faster.
One channel stutters, the rest are fine.
That points to the channel itself. Send us the name and we will check it.
Will a repeater fix my bedroom TV?
Often yes. A mesh unit usually works better than a simple repeater.
Network ready?
Choose a MARINIOS IPTV plan and we will help you set up each screen for the smoothest picture.
